Madam/ Sir,
Financial Inclusion - Essay Competition for School Children
Reserve Bank of India has been making efforts for promoting financial inclusion of the large mass of people who are still not covered under the ambit of the banking services. To create awareness about the concept, an essay competition is being conducted for the school children on a subject related to financial inclusion. We shall be glad to have your assistance and co-operation in this effort.
2. The competition is open to children in classes VI to XII categorized into three groups viz. Junior (Class VI -VIII), Middle (Class IX & X) and Senior (Class XI & XII) with length of the essays being 500, 1000 and 1500 words respectively. The topics vary depending upon the category of the participating students as given in para 3 below:-

The economy can grow without Financial Inclusion, but growth will be equitable only with Financial Inclusion |
4. The first prizes in the three categories will be Rs.10,000/-, Rs. 7,500/- and Rs. 5,000/-, the second will be Rs. 7,500/-, Rs. 5,000/- and Rs. 2,500/- while the third prizes will be Rs.5,000/-, Rs. 3,000/- and Rs. 2,000/- for senior, middle and junior categories respectively. Consolation prizes will be Rs. 500/- in all categories. The prizes will be given in cash or as book coupons as per the preference of the winner. The essay can be written either in Hindi or English.
5. The essay must be submitted through the Principal/Head Mistress/Head Master of the school (who will certify that the essay is the authentic work of the student) to the General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Rural Planning & Credit Department, II Floor, 6, Parliament Street, New Delhi -110 001 latest by November 14, 2007. Each school may forward only three essays i.e. one in each category which has been adjudged the best by the school. The decision of the jury appointed by the RBI will be final on all issues relating to the competition.
6. The wards of RBI Staff will not be eligible to participate.
