The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation new Ferritic Stainless Steel Coins of Rs. 2 with the theme "PLATINUM JUBILEE OF INDIAN AIR FORCE (1932-2007)" The coins shall conform to the following dimensions, designs and compositions, namely :
Shape and outside diameter
Metal composition
Two Rupees
Circular 27 millimeters
Ferritic Stainless Steel containing – Iron – 83% Chromium – 17%
Designs : OBVERSE : The face of the coin is divided into three portions with two horizontal lines. The left center portion shall bear the "Lion Capitol" of Ashoka Pillar with the legend "Emen keÀr DeekeÉÀfle" inscribed below, and the right center portion denominational value "2" in International Numerals. In the upper portion the word "Yeejle" in Hindi and "INDIA" in English and lower portion the word "ªheS" in Hindi and "Rupees" in English. REVERSE : The face of the coin containing the logo signifies the growth of the Indian Air Force over the last seventy five years of glorious service symbolically represented through the depiction of the first fighter aircraft – Wapiti – and the latest multi-role combat aircraft - SU 30 MK I in the center. In upper periphery the word "huewfìôece pe³ebler" in Hindi, in lower periphery the words "PLATINUM JUBILEE" in English and above this year "1932-2007" in International Numerals, in the center left periphery the words "INDIAN AIR FORCE" in English and in the centre right periphery the word "Yeejler³e Jee³eg mesôee" in Hindi. The coin is a legal tender as provided in the Coinage Act, 1906. The existing Two Rupees Coins in circulation shall also continue to be legal tender.
