RBI's DEA Fund Committee approves Five More Entities for Depositors’ Awareness Programmes

The Reserve Bank of India today released the names of five additional entities that have been approved by the Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Fund Committee for registration. The names of the approved five entities are:

The Reserve Bank has also asked registered entities to make application in the prescribed format available on its website along with all relevant and supporting documents/information for project-specific financial assistance from the Fund.

The selection process involved a scrutiny by an internal team of the Reserve Bank followed by an assessment of the applications by the DEA Fund Committee, which has three external members. The applicants have been selected on the basis of their meeting the minimum eligibility criteria, track record and evaluation of the work done by them in the field of depositor education, consumer awareness and consumer protection and their capacity to execute depositors’ awareness programmes.

It may be recalled that the Reserve Bank of India, on October 01, 2015, had registered 20 entities for seeking grant of financial assistance from the DEA Fund based on applications received. Through its Press Release dated October 8, 2015, it had called for a second tranche of applications from eligible persons for registration.
