Recruitment of Meritorious Sportspersons

The Reserve Bank of India invites applications from eligible Sportspersons for the posts of “Assistant”/ “Office Attendant” in various offices of the Bank. Selection for the post will be through selection trial and Interview. The office-wise break-up of the posts is available on the Bank’s website. Candidates between 18 and 26 years of age and possessing necessary educational and sports qualifications are eligible to apply. At present, the monthly gross emoluments for the post of Assistant is ` 22,732/- p.m. and for Office Attendant ` 15,631/- p.m. plus perquisites and facilities.

The full text of the advertisement is also being published in the Employment News / Rojgar Samachar on or after June 28, 2014. Before applying candidates should ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria for the post. The last date for accepting Applications is July 21, 2014.


RECRUITMENT OF MERITORIOUS SPORTSPERSONS IN RESERVE BANK OF INDIA

Applications are invited from the meritorious sportspersons for the post of Assistant/ Office Attendant in Reserve Bank of India (RBI/Bank) from Indian citizens, citizens of Nepal and subjects of Bhutan and persons of Indian origin who have migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and East African countries or Kenya, Uganda and United Republic of Tanzania with the intention of permanently settling in India and in whose favour Eligibility Certificates have been issued by Government of India, as per the details given below:

2. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :

(a) Age (as on 01-07-2014):

Between 18 and 26 years, candidates must have been born not earlier than 02/07/1988 and not later than 01/07/1996.

RELAXATION IN THE UPPER AGE LIMIT:

Upper age is relaxable in the case of candidates belonging to certain categories as under :

(b) Sports Qualification:

Should have represented

  1. a State or the country in the National or international competition or

  2. the District in State level event or

  3. their University in Inter University Tournaments conducted by Inter university Board or

  4. a State Schools Team in the National Sports / Games for Schools conducted by the All India Schools Game Federation

  5. Performance of candidates in the previous two years will be given due importance.

  6. At the time of appointment the candidate must be an active sportsperson and should be fit enough to take part in future tournaments as well

(c) Educational Qualifications (as on 31-08-2014):

For the post of “Assistant” :

At least a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline. The Bachelor’s degree should be from the University within the Recruitment Zone as per Note below.

For the post of “Office Attendant”

At least 10th pass from the Board within the Recruitment Zone as per Note below.

Those who have appeared for the 10th examination or final year examination of bachelor's degree and awaiting results can also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the Graduation/10th Examination on or before 31.08.2014.

NOTE :

The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination from the University/Board within the Recruitment Zone of the concerned Office to which he/she is applying.

3. RECRUITMENT PROCEDURE:

Candidates possessing requisite qualifications will be called for selection trials. Candidates who qualify in selection trials for the discipline applied for will be called for interview at respective centres. Since the recruitment will be mainly on the basis of sports qualifications suitable weightage would be given to this factor as well as the age of the candidates. Selection will be made strictly on the basis of merit. Selection trials and interviews will be conducted at respective offices.

The Bank reserves the right to restrict number of candidates to be called for interview. Mere fulfillment of requisite qualifications will not confer any right on a candidate to be called for interview. Candidates found suitable will be waitlisted. Final selection will depend, inter-alia, on verification of character & antecedents, medical fitness and verification of genuineness of sports certificates to the Bank’s satisfaction.

Applications should be accompanied by the requisite fees in the form of Account Payee Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of “Reserve Bank of India” and payable at respective centre where the application is submitted. DD purchased before the date of this advertisement will not be accepted. Payment in any other manner will be rejected.

4. SERVICE CONDITIONS / CAREER PROSPECTS:

(i) Pay & perquisites

Selected Candidates will draw a starting basic pay of ` 8,860/- per month (inclusive of two advance increments admissible to graduates only) in the scale of ` 8,040 – 410 – 9270 – 500 – 11,270 – 550 – 13,470 – 650 – 15,420 – 720 – 16,140 – 990 – 20,100 (20 years) and other allowances, viz. Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, Transport Allowance etc., as admissible from time to time. At present, initial monthly Gross emoluments for Assistants is approximately ` 22,732/-

Perquisites:

Bank's accommodation subject to availability, reimbursement of expenses for maintenance of vehicle for official purpose, Newspaper, Book Grant, Allowance for furnishing of residence, etc. as per eligibility. Dispensary facility besides reimbursement of medical expenses for OPD treatment/hospitalization as per eligibility; Interest free Festival Advance, Leave Fare Concession (once in two years for self, spouse and eligible dependents). Loans and Advances at concessional rates of interest for Housing, Car, Education, Consumer Articles, Personal Computer, etc. The recruits will be governed by the Defined Contribution New Pension Scheme, in addition to the benefit of Gratuity.

Office Attendant:

Selected Candidates will draw a starting basic pay of ` 6,350/- per month in the scale of ` 6,350 – 220 – 7,230 – 260 – 8,010 – 300 – 8,910 – 400 – 9,710 – 500 – 11,710 – 680 – 13,750 (20 years) and other allowances, viz. Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, Transport Allowance etc., as admissible from time to time. At present, initial monthly Gross emoluments for Office Attendants are approximately ` 15,631/-

Perquisites:

(ii) Selected candidates will be initially posted in the Bank’s office within the Recruitment Zone for which they had applied.

(iii) However, the candidates selected as “Assistants” are liable to be transferred in administrative exigencies to centres grouped and classified into West, South, North and East Zone offices as under:

  1. Ahmedabad, Bhopal (including Raipur), Mumbai (including Belapur), Nagpur, Pune and Panaji.

  2. Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

  3. Chandigarh (including Shimla), Jaipur, Jammu / Srinagar, Kanpur, Lucknow (including Dehradun) and New Delhi.

  4. Bhubaneswar, Guwahati (including all North Eastern states), Kolkata and Patna (including Ranchi).

5. APPLICATION FEE (NON-REFUNDABLE):

Rs.100/- (Rupees Hundred only). No fee is payable by SC/ST candidates. Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

6. HOW TO APPLY

  1. Applications (Preferably typewritten on plain A4 size paper) should contain brief bio-data of candidate with regard to the following :

    (i) Name in full (in block letters) (ii) Full residential address (iii) Date of birth (iv) Place of birth (v) Educational qualifications (vi) Name of School/College last attended (vii)Technical qualifications, if any (viii) Employment Exchange Registration Number (if any) (ix) Whether belongs to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/other backward class (attach xerox copies of certificates) (x) Proficiency in sports – (a) Name of sport (b) Specialization (c) Participation in sports events (indicating particulars of sports events and nature of representation therein) (xi) Particulars of past and present employment (xii) Signature of applicant & date.

  1. Latest passport size photograph should be affixed on right-hand top corner of application.

  2. Applications should accompany Xerox copies of relevant certificates with regards to qualifications acquired. Copies of certificates relating to efficiency/merit in games/sports from authorities like District/State Sports associations may be enclosed. Mere recommendations from sports club will not be considered. No originals should be sent.

  3. Applications complete in all respects should be forwarded by ordinary post to the Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, Recruitment Section, at respective centre where the application is submitted. Applications should be accompanied by the requisite fees in the form of Account Payee Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of “Reserve Bank of India” and payable at respective centre where the application is submitted. The cover containing application should be superscribed “For recruitment of Sportspersons”.

  4. Applications may also be deposited in a special box kept at the Bank’s Building at the above address from 10.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. on weekdays except on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

  5. Incomplete applications/ applications received after the last date mentioned herein are liable to be rejected.

7. LAST DATE:

Application should reach the Bank’s Office on or before July 21, 2014.

8. GENERAL RULES/ INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. All educational qualifications should have been obtained from recognized universities/ institutions in India. If grades are awarded instead of marks, candidates should clearly indicate its numerical equivalent.

  2. Candidates should satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the post applied for.

  3. The Bank shall not entertain requests from the candidates seeking advice about their eligibility to apply.

  4. Those called for interview, will be reimbursed to and fro actual II AC railway fare by the shortest route from the place of their residence/place of work to the place of interview, whichever is nearer.

  5. Candidates already in service of Govt./quasi-Govt. organizations and public sector banks /undertakings will have to produce a "no objection certificate" from their employer, at the time of interview. However, before appointment in RBI, a proper discharge certificate from the employer will have to be produced.

  6. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.

  7. In all matters regarding eligibility, interview, assessment, prescribing minimum qualifying standards in interview, in relation to number of vacancies and communication of result, the Bank's decision shall be final and binding on the candidates and no correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.

  8. Any resultant dispute arising out of this advertisement shall be subject to the sole jurisdiction of the Courts situated in Mumbai only.
