Reserve Bank of India, Guwahati started its operations w.e.f January 14, 1949 as a Sub-Office with only one Department, viz, Issue Department at the Kamrup Treasury Office and became a full-fledged Regional Office from July 1, 1982. The Office is situated in Guwahati, Assam near the Railway Station. The city of Guwahati is on the bank of river Brahmaputra, and surrounded by lush green hills. The state of Assam acts as a gateway to the North Eastern States.

Jurisdiction:

At present the Regional Office, Guwahati has jurisdiction over 7 states, namely, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.
