The Mumbai Regional Office (MRO) of the Reserve Bank of India was established in 1935. MRO is the largest Regional Office of the Reserve Bank and also serves as the Secretariat of the Western Area Local Board. It is the nodal office for Western Grid Bankers' clearing house and the jurisdiction of the Western Zone for Payment and Settlement Systems. The RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement System) and NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer) operations are also conducted through Mumbai Regional Office.
