Introduction of On-line Tax Accounting System (OLTAS)- Branding
of Rubber Stamp on copies of Challans
Please refer to our Circular letter DGBA.GAD.No.989/42.01.034/2003-04
dated March 31, 2004 on the captioned subject.
2. In
the meeting of the High Powered Committee for On-line Transmission of Tax Payment
Data from Banks to Income Tax Department held on March 31, 2004, it has been decided,
among others, that during the Pilot, banks should use a rubber stamp acknowledging
the payment with Challan Identification Number (CIN) comprising of the following
: (i) BSR Code Number of the bank
branch (7 digits) (ii) Date of presentation of the challan
(dd/mm/yy) (iii) Serial Number of the challan in that
branch on that day (5 digits) 3. You are requested to
advise your authorised branches collecting CBDT dues to prepare the rubber stamp
(6 cm x 7 cm) as specified in the Annexure and brand all the copies of the challans
during the Pilot in April and May, 2004. 4. Incidentally,
the same stamp will have to be used when the new Accounting Procedure and Single
Unified Challan come into operation and OLTAS becomes functional from June 1,
